To kick off the 2015 season, the State Fair has begun selling general admission tickets, food and ride coupons, as well as tickets to the 11th Annual Big Tex Choice Awards. The wait is over – State Fair fans can now purchase their general admission tickets online, along with tickets for children and seniors. Priced at $18, general admission to the Fair includes hundreds of daily shows, concerts, activities and exhibits, all at no extra cost. The Fair offers $14 admission for children under 48 inches in height and seniors age 60 and older, with free admission for children age 2 and under. Also available online, fairgoers can purchase a State Fair of Texas Season Pass for $39.99, which includes 24-day admission as well as a variety of special pass-holder benefits. For the first time in 129 years, you can save even more when you purchase a Season Pass Combo Pack. This pack includes two Season Passes and 120 food and ride coupons, all for just $99. All proceeds from the Big Tex Choice Awards ceremony will be donated to the State Fair of Texas Youth Scholarship Program. Over its 23 year history, the Youth Scholarship Program has provided scholarships to more than 1,600 students for a total of more than $4.5 million. Eligible recipients include graduating high school seniors from around the state of Texas who have competed in State Fair livestock events, as well as graduating seniors from five Fair Park area schools – Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, James Madison, Lincoln, North Dallas and Woodrow Wilson High Schools. Due to the event’s charitable cause, a portion of each ticket is tax-deductible. Last year, ticket sales for the Big Tex Choice Awards raised more than $18,000 to be donated to the Youth Scholarship Fund.
