IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE 2020 CREATIVE ARTS CONTESTS
Howdy Folks,
Dating back to 1886, creative arts has always been one of our most treasured State Fair of Texas traditions, and although the 2020 State Fair is on hiatus due to current landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic, we did what we do best and found a way to creatively keep this tradition alive.
The Fair will offer more than 900 arts & crafts contests – and the registration deadline has been extended to September 1, 2020! While historically the Fair has more than 1,100 contests each year, we are committed to offering as many creative arts participation opportunities, in a safe environment for our participants, to carry-on our nonprofit mission of promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement.
The State Fair of Texas is proud to announce additional, new virtual Creative Arts contests for 2020 and you butter believe we’re excited to see the creativity Texans will carve up this year. Every year since 1886, the State Fair has celebrated all things Texan, including creativity. The new virtual contests will allow the celebrations of creativity to continue, not only from our home in Fair Park, but from every home in Texas. With our participant’s health and safety as our number one priority, the State Fair will implement all preventive measures recommended by the CDC and other relevant health agencies for these contests. Unfortunately, we must postpone the Big Tex BBQ & Chili Challenge, as well as the annual creative arts cooking contests until 2021, due to the nature of these competitions and health and safety concerns related to COVID-19.
While we are sad that we had to make any changes to the 2020 creative arts offering, we are excited about some new opportunities ahead. Stay tuned for more announcements in the coming weeks.
Looking forward to seeing your creativity,
Kathy Bennett

Though this year is a little reimagined with the Cooking Contest and BBQ/Chili Challenge being canceled, there is still plenty of opportunities to win that blue ribbon in Arts and Crafts!
