Mitchell Glieber
A new leader has been chosen to head the State Fair of Texas. The Board of Directors appointed Mitchell Glieber as the new President of the organization during their annual meeting today.
“We are thrilled to appoint Mitchell Glieber as the new President of the State Fair of Texas,” said Chairman of the Board, Alan Walne. “Mitchell has the vision, experience and enthusiasm to lead the legacy of our great State Fair into a strong and dynamic future.”
Mr. Glieber joined the State Fair in 1999, spending the majority of his time working with corporate partners developing sponsorship, marketing, and promotional programs, more than tripling sponsorship revenue. Prior to joining the State Fair, Mitchell spent nearly a decade with the Dallas Mavericks marketing team, serving as the organization’s Sales Manager for season and group tickets. Raised in Dallas, Mitchell graduated from Southern Methodist University with a double-major in Finance and TV & Radio. He served as Captain of the SMU Mustangs football team in 1989, and was chosen as one of only 11 National Football Foundation Scholar Athletes in the country, that same year. He is President of the SMU Letterman’s Association and is an active member of the Dallas Salesmanship Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming children’s futures by serving at-risk families in the Greater Dallas area. Mitchell is son to nationally-known CBS Sportscaster, Frank Glieber, who passed away in 1985. Mitchell and his wife Lisa are devoted parents to their three children; Thomas, Kaki and Charlotte.
“It is a privilege to step into the boots of my predecessors and to continue the long-standing tradition of the State Fair of Texas, and all that it brings to the Dallas community and the State of Texas,” said Mr. Glieber. “The State Fair of Texas is a place where everyone should come each year to renew their Texan membership card, or for those from around the world to come and learn why Texans are so proud to be from the Lone Star State.”
Outgoing President, Errol McKoy, publicly announced his retirement during the ribbon cutting ceremony that opened the 2013 State Fair of Texas. After more than 25 years of dedication to the State Fair, and more than 53 years in the amusement park industry, Mr. McKoy looks forward to traveling and spending more time with his family.
“The Board wants to thank Errol for his revolutionary vision and leadership,” said Walne. “He helped to make the State Fair of Texas a world-class event and organization.”
The gates open for the 2014 State Fair of Texas starting September 26th through October 19th, with the theme “Deep in the Heart of Texans.”
