“Don’t Mess With Texas,” a slogan created by the Texas Department of Public Transportation encouraging Texans and folks visiting to be courteous of our beautiful Lone Star State by not throwing their garbage across our land. Embracing our “Don’t Mess With Texas” saying, we encourage you to recycle your trash – or better yet, recycle those old shoes!
Creative Arts kicks off Opening Day of the Fair with one of our most prized contests, the Glue-A-Shoe competition. This contest is either as simple as the title or as extravagant as you choose to design. Just pick your shoe of choice (boot, clog, heel, flat, sandal, etc.) and let your creative feet run far with imagination. One shoe per class, no pairs, and no edible substances. Entries must include a visible title and winning entries will be on display in the Creative Arts building for the duration of the 2020 State Fair.
To kick off the Fair fun in a creative way, the Glue-A-Shoe contest is held on Opening Day, September 25, and though it is a crafty contest, it is listed as a during-Fair Cooking Contest. You can either register online or fill out a during-Fair contest entry form found in the Creative Arts Handbook or in the Competition Kitchen the day of the contest.
To help with some ideas, we’ve collected a few of our favorites. Don’t be a copy-clog, but flip-flop through for some inspiration! And not just today, but every day, “Don’t Mess With Texas.”
