Ingredients
2 c. flour
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 c. melted butter
1 c. molasses
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. hot water
Directions
Preheat oven to 350º. Grease and flour 8 x 8-inch pan. Sift together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda and all spices. Stir in melted butter, molasses, egg and buttermilk. Beat in hot water. Pour batter into pan and bake for 45-50 minutes. Done when gingerbread springs back when lightly touched with fingers.
