Calvin Burress from Houston, Texas took home third place in the State Fair of Texas’ Children’s Youth Cooking Contest with this decadent recipe for cherry pecan bars. They are easy to make and full of flavor!
Ingredients
2 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup powdered sugar
1 cup unsalted butter
2 cup chopped pecans
¾ cup dried cherries
¾ cup brown sugar
¾ cup honey
¾ cup cream
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350˚. Pre-butter 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
Mix flour and powered sugar and cut in butter.
Press dough into baking pan.
Bake 20 minutes until golden brown.
In medium saucepan, mix pecans, cherries brown sugar, honey, and cream. Bring to a boil for two minutes.
Pour mixture over crust and bake approximately 15 minutes until light a caramel color and bubbly.
Cool and cut into 24 bars. Enjoy!
