Savory Smoked Vegetable Salsa

1st Place—Tex Mex
Ingredients:
- 3 lg. red tomatoes, off the vine
- 5 lg. ripe tomatillos
- ½ med. Texas 1015 onion
- 2 Serrano chiles
- 1 poblano pepper
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ c. fresh cilantro
- 1 T. fresh lime juice
- 2 T. tequila
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- ½ tsp. dried Mexican oregano
- Salt to taste
Directions:
Place red tomatoes, tomatillos, onion, Serranos, New Mexico chiles, poblano and garlic cloves on a prepared smoker; smoke at 225 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Place smoked vegetables in food processor with cilantro, lime juice, tequila, cumin, oregano and salt. Process and adjust for taste.
