From the Classroom to the Farm
Big Tex invites you and your students to learn about urban agriculture at the Big Tex Urban Farms!
Calling all schools who GROW their student’s interest in agriculture – we invite you to join us at Fair Park to experience a one-of-a-kind learning experience led by horticultural experts at the State Fair of Texas. The Big Tex Urban Farms is offering a select number of “field day” tours that will take place at the Errol Mckoy Green House on the Midway, in the heart of Fair Park in Dallas. These two-hour tours will include an exclusive tour of our world class greenhouse and educational presentations led by our friendly Big Tex urban farmers. Students will get hands-on experience with growing systems including the latest technology utilizing hydroponics and have the opportunity to ask questions about growing food in Texas!
Does Your School Qualify
If your school already has an agriculture, horticulture, or garden program, your school may be the ideal candidate to make a trip to our urban farm. Your school must also be able to provide your own mode of transportation to and from Fair Park.
How the Process Works
Step 1 – Fill out the online form.
Step 2 – If you meet the qualifications, a team member of the Big Tex Urban Farms will reach out to you to schedule a field trip date in the Spring of 2027.
Step 3 – Acquire signed waivers for all students attending, PRIOR to the scheduled farm visit.
Step 4 – Come out and enjoy your visit to the farm.
