The State Fair of Texas and the Dallas Historical Society, in cooperation with the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, present a new exhibit honoring a selection of individuals who have made significant contributions to the athletic history of Texas.
The exhibit, titled “Texas Sports Legends,” will be located in the Texas Hall of State at Fair Park, a building that celebrates Texas culture through its historical architecture and style. A selection of memorabilia from the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, permanently housed in Waco, will be showcased in the Texas Hall of State exclusively for the Fair’s run.
Since its establishment in 1951, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame has inducted renowned athletes such as Nolan Ryan, Clyde Drexler, Doak Walker, George Foreman, Ben Crenshaw, Mike Modano and Mia Hamm. Inductees represent a wide range of sports, and include both athletes who were born and raised in the Lone Star state as well as those who were members of a Texas team later in life.
The exhibit will also offer a special segment highlighting a selection of sports figures not yet inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. A selection of athletes will each have a display in the “Future Texas Sports Legends” section.
Entrance to the Texas Hall of State and the exhibit is free of charge. The exhibit will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Presented by AT&T, The Dallas Morning News and NBC 5.
