The Annual Big Tex® Clay Shoot Classic event raised a record-breaking $325,000 with all event proceeds going to Texas youth participating in the State Fair’s Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction and Scholarship Programs. The Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction and Big Tex Scholarship Programs supports graduating high school seniors around the state of Texas who have participated in competitive youth livestock events held at the State Fair and graduating seniors from six Dallas ISD high schools in the Fair Park area, and seasonal employees of the State Fair of Texas or their dependents. Scholarship recipients attend Texas colleges, universities, or accredited trade schools. The event was held Friday, April 25, at the Dallas Gun Club in Lewisville, Texas. Approximately 545 shooters registered to compete at the event. For a third year, the annual Big Tex® Clay Shoot Classic offered a morning flight and afternoon flight, allowing more shooters and teams to take part in the competition. First-place and second-place teams from each flight on the orange, blue, and green courses were recognized. For the AFTERNOON FLIGHT, Top Teams: Orange Course Winners: Wright Construction Company, Inc.: Kyle Marsh, Curtis Green, Carson Green, Baylor Brooks, Lukas Tribble, Blue Course Winners: Master Construction: Don Weempe, Jane Weempe, Casey Wright, George O’Reilly, and Green Course Winners: Primera Companies, Inc.: Pete Richardson, Paul DeRidder, Jamie Rommell, Marty Markl, Ray Morrison. The top individual MORNING FLIGHT shooters: Orange Course: Buzz Shike (84 of 90 targets hit), Blue Course: Jay Snyder (87 of 90 targets hit), and Green Course: Brad Harris (85 of 90 targets hit). Each winner received a custom State Fair of Texas belt buckle created by Gist. The top individual AFTERNOON FLIGHT shooters: Orange Course: Ryan Smith and Kyle Marsh tied (88 of 90 targets hit), Blue Course: George O’Reilly (77 of 90 targets hit), and Green Course: Paul DeRidder and Jamie Rommell tied (88 of 90 targets hit).
