Love is in the air, but in Texas, not just during the month of February. When September comes around and the State Fair of Texas opens it’s gates once again, we know there is a certain element of magic in the air that leads to the experience of love. We asked you to share your story of love with us on Facebook and we were overjoyed with the response we received. We were so touched that we just had to share those stories with you. Whether it’s the company of a significant other, the first bite of a Flecther’s Corny Dog, or simply gazing up at Big Tex himself – we hope that you too will find your own personal expression of love at the 2018 State Fair of Texas.
Amy Watkins Irby – My husband and I had our very first date at the State Fair eleven years ago! We’ve gone back every year and our boys look forward to going every October. We have some wonderful memories from the State Fair of Texas!
Shannon Jergins – This was us on the Ferris wheel on our first fair trip together!! We try to go every year. My hubby and I have been together five years this month.
Leigh Garcia – My husband, Connor Ryan, proposed to me at the State Fair of Texas in 2015 on our four year anniversary. Big Tex helped with the proposal by announcing “Happy anniversary to Connor and Leigh, and now, Connor has a very important question to ask you, Leigh. Take it away Connor.” Couldn’t have asked for a better engagement. Thanks Big Tex!!!
Jackie Anice Sanchez – My husband told me he loved me for the first time 10 years ago when we were just teenagers after spending a day at the fair.
Leslie Ann Batson – After waiting many years of trying for a baby, I finally had a baby boy and we’ve loved to go to the State Fair ever since I was pregnant with him. The picture I’m holding is one we had made there at the Fair for his room. We take a picture in front of the same tree every year there. So far we have been three times. Pregnant, and then almost one, and almost 2.
Debbie Iris – We really don’t know how to take pictures, but last year we went with our baby girl and she loved every second of that day and all the chocolate.
Betsy Guzman– Me and my daughter Kayleen made a promise and a tradition to have a mother and daughter date at the State Fair for the rest of our lives. So far, we have been able to keep that promise for more than ten years and we have so many beautiful pictures and memories to share a lifetime. I really look forward to the State Fair every year and loved to see how my beautiful daughter is growing every year when I looked at my pictures from the State Fair. The State Fair is part of the love I have for my family.
Jaye Gee – My ‘love’ story is with my oldest daughter and her family. They moved from Maryland to Texas (my daughter, her husband, my two ‘grandbabies’) this past Summer, it was the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. I had a plan, though, to go out to visit them and take them all to the State Fair of Texas. What an awesome time we had. Everything was great . Sorry if this isn’t in keeping with the romantic aspect but I was so grateful to spend a wonderful time with my family. It did my heart good, thanks so much. Hoping to return in October for the next Fair, but this time we are going to attend more than one day.
Gabrielle Fass – Adam and I love the State Fair of Texas so much we had our engagement photos taken here! We have attended the fair together every year since we started dating, so it only seemed right that we include it in our wedding somehow. There’s no greater feeling than sharing the place you love with the person you love. Our favorite fair activities are riding in the swan boats and eating corn dogs! Pictures by Amy Barry Photography.
