Amazing structures constructed out of canned food by some of DFW’s most prolific architects and engineers. All to help raise awareness.
As part of the State Fair’s mission to give back to the community, the organization has partnered with Canstruction, a unique charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions and events showcasing colossal structures made entirely out of full cans of food.
The 2014 State Fair of Texas will host a Canstruction event, where more than 35 can creations will go on display as a giant art exhibition. Since contestants from both the Dallas and Fort Worth regions will be competing, constructions will be set up in two different areas of the building to distinguish between the two cities. In coordination with this year’s State Fair of Texas theme, the Canstruction theme will be Deep in the Heart of Texans, adding an element of state pride to the can creations.
At the end of the competition, all food will be donated and split accordingly between the North Texas Food Bank and the Tarrant County Food Bank, which aims to fulfill the ultimate goal of feeding the entire DFW metroplex.
The exhibit will be held in the Science Place building and will be on display daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Presented by Bank of America.
