No matter which corner of our great state (or the rest of the world) you’ve come from, the State Fair of Texas has something for you. With more than 100 daily performances, a State Fair ticket is the best value for “All Things Texan.” Whether you’re a music fan, enjoy walking the numerous exhibit spaces, or are an auto enthusiast who enjoys checking out the newest car, truck, and SUV models, your ticket alone offers you hours – or a month with a fair pass – of entertainment for the price of admission.
15 artists will headline the Chevrolet Main Stage at the 2016 State Fair of Texas and a total of 75 bands and musicians will play on the stage. Many more local and regional bands and singers will perform on stages across the fairgrounds. Outside of music, there are also numerous performances daily for the entire family including the Lone Star Stampede, light shows, acrobatics, pig races, our midway barker, and more.
Once you get inside the gates, be sure to pick up a Visitor’s Guide to help you make your way around the fair. Until then, you can check out our daily schedule to learn more about every event happening during the day(s) you’re visiting.
Food is a HUGE tradition at the State Fair of Texas. Whether you’re in the mood for fair staples like the Fletcher’s State Fair Corny Dog, a turkey leg, Frito Pie, one of the numerous fried foods offered, or a local recipe from some of the best cooks in the state (who knows, some of these people might even be your neighbors), you’re sure to find something to satisfy your taste buds. As part of the Creative Arts portion of the State Fair of Texas, you can also attend daily cooking demonstrations from Celebrity Guest Chefs and enter various culinary contests in the Competition Kitchen. Stop by the Creative Arts building to check out the competitions, see the recipes come to life, and get samples of each entry in the competition. On the Sunday before Opening Day, you can even attend our Chili, BBQ, and Dutch Oven Cook-Off.
The young and old alike will enjoy the State Fair of Texas. We have activities and attractions suitable for kids of all ages. There’s no experience like the State Fair, and our 2016 lineup will have something for every interest and every taste.
You’ll find free daily activities such as the Pee Wee Stampede and the Kids’ Pedal Tractor Pulls, which allow kids to get hands-on in the middle of the action. Your kids can even get a little education and history lesson on the State Fair while they’re here. Make a visit to Little Hands on the Farm to learn how agricultural products go from farm to the dinner table, and head on over to Big Tex’s Barnyard to see interactive exhibits on the food production process.
