Big Tex stands tall only three weeks of the Fair but that doesn’t mean that his BIG Texas spirit doesn’t live on throughout the year. Did you know that the State Fair of Texas hosts a variety of events that all serve the Fair’s mission to celebrate all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement? As a nonprofit organization, the State Fair of Texas offers opportunities to have fun year-round so that ultimately we can give back to this state we love so much. Big Tex Scholarship Program Application Deadline

Are you a graduating senior who has competed in a State Fair of Texas Livestock competition? Have you worked as a seasonal employee for the State Fair of Texas for three or more Fairs? Or are you a graduating senior at one of the following Fair Park-area schools?

- Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School
- James Madison
- Lincoln
- North Dallas
- Woodrow Wilson

NXT Fest

The State Fair of Texas is taking empowerment and educational guidance to the NXT level with NXT Fest. Part inspirational seminar, part education fair, and part musical showcase, NXT Fest assists high school seniors in making the next important step in their educational careers. While NXT Fest is not open to the public – it is currently only open to DISD students from select high schools in the DFW area – there is a specific need for volunteers. Big Tex Clay Shoot Classic

Clay shooting translates into scholarships at the annual Big Tex Clay Shoot Classic. Teams of clay shoot enthusiasts gather in North Texas to compete for first place and bragging rights. One hundred percent of the money raised for this event goes to support the Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction and Scholarship Program, which supports students from across the state, including those attending one of six area high schools surrounding Fair Park.

Big Tex Golf Classic
June 21, 2019
This summer, take to the greens of Tenison Park Golf Course for the only tournament in town where Little Big Tex is sighted waving from a passing golf cart. At the Big Tex Golf Classic, a hole in one means agricultural and educational opportunities for young Texans. Gather some golf buddies, bring your clubs, and have some fun. All proceeds from this tournament benefit the Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction and Big Tex Scholarship Program.

Fair Park Fourth on the Midway

The State Fair of Texas teams up Fair Park to celebrate the Fourth of July with you and your family. Food, fun, and fireworks are available to all as we open up our famous Midway for one day during the summer to celebrate our Independence Day. If you need your corny dog fix before the Fair opens in the fall or if you just need an exciting place to view a spectacular fireworks display then Fair Park Fourth on the Midway is the place to be. All proceeds from the event support the Big Tex Scholarship Program.
Big Tex Choice Awards
Late Summer 2019
Is your favorite thing about the State Fair of Texas the amazing, mouthwatering food? Then the Big Tex Choice Awards is right up your alley. Half awards show and half new food sampling, the Big Tex Choice Awards gives foodies like you a sneak peek at some of the new foods everyone will be talking about come Fair time. Best of all, anyone can purchase a ticket and take part in the fun! All proceeds from the event support the Big Tex Scholarship Program.

Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction

The Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction is a time-honored tradition at the State Fair that celebrates and supports urban and rural youth across Texas. It’s a unique opportunity for young exhibitors to sell projects through a live auction where sponsors pay premium prices that encourage further growth in Texas’ agricultural future. To participate, these youth invest time, compassion, and energy in animals with hopes of walking away with the Grand Champion prize. The Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction is a highlight of the Fair each year and it’s open to everyone. You don’t have to bid to enjoy the fun, so make plans to enjoy some beautiful animals and support Texas youth in 2019.
