Buildings open at 10 a.m.

1. Backyard Circus

   The Backyard Circus offers little ones the chance to dress up in costumes and take part in a show that features lion tamers, tight-rope walkers, ballerinas and a host of circus favorites. Shows at 11 a.m., 1, 3, 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. in the Oak Farms Dairy Children’s Activity Center in Ag-Power Plaza.

2. Chevrolet Main Stage
   Presented by Chevrolet.

   With live music as one of its cornerstones, the State Fair of Texas presents 24 days of free concerts on the Chevrolet Main Stage, featuring a variety of musical acts across all genres. The stage showcases national and regional talent of all types, with all performances included in the price of admission. Today, catch nationally know Latino acts Jay Perez (1 p.m.) and Emilio (3 p.m.) on the Main Stage.

3. Visit Big Tex

   As the official State Fair icon, and a Texas icon himself, Big Tex welcomes the annual crowd of fairgoers with a friendly wave and a hearty, “Howdy, Folks!” Making his first Fair debut in 1952, Big Tex has since become a household name and a time-honored tradition. Year after year millions of visitors come from far and wide to experience the State Fair, holding a special place in their hearts for its beloved icon, Big Tex. Representing a place where families create lifelong memories, Big Tex embodies every aspect of Texas culture, from the spirit of tradition to the sense of community.

4. All-New Mattress Firm Illumination Sensation

   Presented by Mattress Firm.

   Experience the nightly celebration – completely remastered! Set along a scenic reflecting pool, the Mattress Firm Illumination Sensation wows the crowd with dancing waters and liquid fire. A unique and breathtaking event, the show combines fireworks and high-energy pop music with engaging performances from dancers and acrobats. This sensational show begins at 8 p.m. Show up early to stake out the best vantage points along the Esplanade!

5. Lone Star Horse Spectacular
   Sponsored by Renewals by Andersen.

   From 1519 to present day, six flags have flown over the great state of Texas. In the Fair’s newest production, visitors get the chance to celebrate the rich history of our state and each of its flags as they are paraded in a horse-led pageantry. Themed to traditional Texas music, the event features professional riders on horseback, performing in coordination with the historical narrative. Sit down and join Texas native Barry Corbin as he narrates the show, telling the spectacular story of the great Lone Star State. Shows at 3, 4, and 5 p.m. in the Pan-American Arena.

6. Texas Lottery

   Come play the Games of Texas at the Texas Lottery Luck Zone!  With a $10 purchase you can spin the prize wheel to win free scratch-off tickets or a chance to go in the money machine.
