Octoberfest Cheese Dip

1st Place — Cooking with Cheese

 

Ingredients:

1 T. olive oil

2/3 c. mayonnaise

1 c. diced onion

½ c. milk

½ c. shredded smoked cheddar

¼ tsp. salt

1 c. shredded extra sharp cheddar

3 T. German-style mustard

1/2 c. shredded Swiss cheese

1 c. peeled and diced Granny Smith apple

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Heat oil in skillet, add onions and cook stirring constantly until they are golden brown. Remove from heat and cool slightly. In a large bowl combine smoked cheddar, extra sharp cheddar, Swiss cheese, mayonnaise, milk, and German-style mustard. Mix with handheld mixer until well combined. Stir in onions and apples. Spread into a 1-quart baking dish. Bake 40 minutes or until dip is bubbling and top is slightly browned. Serve with crackers and chips.
